Lovlina Borgohain of India is through to the Semi-Finals of the Women's Welterweight Boxing Event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Her Win has ensured that India will add another Medal to its tally. But everyone will be hoping that Lovlina goes for the Gold.
What an inspiring performance from her in Beating N.C. Chen of Chinese Taipei 4-1 on pure merit and skills. She will be facing the No 1 ranked Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in Semi-Finals. Watching her fight you can sense that she will be gunning for that spot in the final.
Being Kick Boxer in the past certainly helped her cause to perfect her movement and defence.
Indian Contingent in Tokyo faced a series of Setbacks after Mirabai Chanu had won the Silver Medal but the inexorable Lovlina has given India a lot to cheer for.
The Encouragement from the Coach- During the break between the rounds we heard Lovlina's coach saying you can write history and hopes of the entire Nation is resting on you. Yes, seems a little nerve-racking but that is the kind of pep talk that can take you to another level. It certainly did.

Lovlina is a 23-year-old Boxer from Golaghat in Assam, India. She had to struggle Financially growing up as her father is a small scale Businessman. She followed her elder twin sister into Kick Boxing only to later switch to Boxing.
The Sports Authority of India held trials at her high School Barpathar Girls High School. She was noticed there and selected by renowned coach Padum Boro, who began training her in 2012. The sportsperson in India from such humble backgrounds just give it all and make it large as in the case of Lovlina.
She is young and has a long and illustrious career ahead. She will definitely make it larger. She deserves all the praise, admiration, encouragement and support that we can give.
